Long story short, neighbor across the road comes over 2 Saturdays ago, sitting there he knows I'm into guns big time and tells me the fellow 2 houses down from him died and his wife wanted to give my neighbor 1 of his guns. He wouldn't take it for free so he gives her $100. My neighbor starts describing the rifle and I tell him to go get it so I can have a look. Low and behold its a Marlin 39A carbine. I'm drooling at the mouth looking at it, its in beautiful condition. He asks if I would take it apart and clean it for him, in exchange he goes over to the ladies house and brings me back a near new Delta bench drill press. That was a real good day for both of us. My question here, whats its real world value, the serial # is N22***, year of production and how rare are they, I can't say I've ever seen one before. In the picture below, my 39A is on the left, carbine on the right.
