No they were just cheap .22s. I've had 4 different 39As as well & only one could me made to function reliably. I've never had an issue with a late model Marlin centerfire rifle.

I'll stick with my Remington rimfires.....zero issues.
It simply has to be you swampy. I've had at least two dozen of The Marlin rimfire bolts over the past 40 years and currently have 5 of them in the house. I've had NO feeding issues with any of them and most have been at least acceptably accurate with a fair share exceptionally so. I also have 3 Marlin semi-auto .22's that are both extremely reliable and exceptionally accurate. It's too bad I can't say the same for Remington. Big green just can't seem to make a semi that shoots worth a damn and I've owned several over the years. The two nylon 66's I had were dependable but accuracy was Red Ryderish and none of the several Vipers, 597's, 550's or 552's I've owned were either dependable or accurate. I'm happy to say I currently have none of Remington's junk in my house and never plan to again.
