The Savage 170s have tubular magazines.
The only rifles chambered in 30-30 with detachable magazines that I am aware of are the bolt action Remington 788, Savage 40/45 Super Sporters, and the Savage 340 series. The Savage 340s were also sold under the Stevens and Springfield brands by Savage and as house-brand rifles for Western Auto, Montgomery Wards, etc.
If you do a search under "30-30" in the bolt action rifles section of GunBroker, you're likely to come up with a page or more of them in a variety of conditions and prices.
