I am trying to research the Sears Lever Rifles,
I have come up with 3 different Models. Model 45, Model 54, and Model 100.
The Model 45's (Marlin 336)have two different Model Numbers, 103.450 & 103.451. The examples I have found show a JC Higgins label on the 103.450 and a Sears label on the 103.451. Also it seams they listed the 45 in 1964 & 1965. I have read forums with guys stating they have a Model 45 in 35 Rem.
The Model 54 (Winchester 94) have three identified Model Numbers, 273.2120, 213.810, and 273.811. These are New Model (NM)or post 1964 Winchesters made to Sears Specs. They all have the Stamped Carrier, Steel Butt Plates, and Nose Caps. I should mention here that they all have the long nose cap except the 273.811 which has a short nose cap. These are all listed as 30-30 and availlable from 1966 - 1972.
The Model 100 (Winchester 94) have three identified Model Numbers, 273.532151, 273.582140, and 273.582141. These are also New Model Winchesters made to Sears Specs. I know that Models 273.582140 & 273.582141 have the Ted Williams label and a Plastic Butt Plate. I can't verify if the carrier is Stamped or Cast, the only example I have found did have a cast but it was common practice to exchange the stamped with cast. I have read but can't verify that these were only available in 1973.
Two Models I haven't identified as yet are 273.532140 & 273.53419. I have read postings claiming the 273.2140 is a Model 100.
Any documented info, pictures or catalog pages would be appreciated.
