Yes I have that catalog and it is fun to browse through, like an old Herters. A deceased gunstore owner knew the owner down there in Owatonna. The Gopher Shooters Supply ad which would appear in various magazines would have a banner: "Something Special" to announce a particular promotion. The 3 calibers that Gopher ordered are correct. It took about a year to get them in. A truly recognized "Gopher Special" would have to be accompanied by a store receipt or the box to document it. As you corrected noted, Winchester would make a sightless rifle, for anyone ordering one. It would be a Class IV variation according to Rules' Book.
Certainly good stuff to mull over.
