I have a pre-64 Model 70 and a Ruger Model 77. I've killed mule deer and Columbian blacktails with the Model 70 while it was loaded with 140 grain pills and it worked wonderfully. The Model 77 has killed Alaska/Yukon moose, black bear, Dall sheep, mountain goat, Roosevelt's elk and caribou while being loaded with 140 grain bullets and it performed very well. Pick your broadside shots and make them accurate and you shouldn't have any problems.
