Tony lots of those very fine customs were built and never shot.I watched this go on a lot with rifles by Goens, Biesen,Wiebe, and others among people I knew in my area.

I think that for many, the rifles represented lifetime investments....something they saved a long time for...and they equated "beautiful" with "fragile",were afraid to damage them, so never took them hunting.

Yet they would hunt a Winchester or Ruger for years with little to no damage.... shocked

In any event, it is kind of a windfall today,because these rifles can be picked up for far less than it would cost us to build them today,as you well know! smile
