Good post, dogzapper. I've run three 5.3's, one an '08 with Displacement on Demend which had 145k on it when I traded it. NONE of them ever burned any oil. I am currently running a '11 6.2 w/ the MAX trailering package and 3.73's. All my pickups in the last 20 years have had 3.73's. I love that 6.2!! The calculated mileage difference between my 6.2 and the '08 5.3 comes to 0.7 mpg less with the 6.2. For the substantial increase in horsepower with the 6.2, I can live with 0.7 mpg less fuel economy. BTW, I've only used regular unleaded 10% ethanol in my 6.2 since new. Didn't know they will run better yet on premium! I'll have to ask the dealer about that.
