I have an old Ruger M77 in .243. The stocks they made for them at Ruger back when I got it some 25 years ago were bulky and chunky especially on the forend. Had terible eye appeal, and probably added a good half pound to the rifle needlessly. I bought a cheap Ramline synthetic stock to replace the factory stock and glass bedded it. Shoots really well with my new load of 47grs of R-22 behind a 100gr Hornady. 1/2" groups and 3100fps. I hate to mess with a good thing, but I'd like to find an aftermarket Ruger stock that would fit....Ruger started "thinning them down" some a few years back, but also changed the action so that you couldn't adjust the trigger, and did away with tang safety I think. I have the old style gun with adjustable trigger and the tang safety. Any suggestions?
