I know you could get the bolt replaced on 1895's to an 1899 bolt back in the day but the shell counter hole on the side adds to the mystery.

I do not mean to flame your sale but it begs the question if you have ever gotten a letter for it?

A Friend In Wisconsin has one with a 28 Inch Barel Length a 1895 with a serial Number in the 6,000
It was at Savage Fest and Letterd.
