I have used it for many loads that are not "in the book".
Be sure to provide the OAL if you are reaching out to the lands.
You can click the Temp icon just above "apply and calc" in the propellant window to change the temperature.
It does not know where the lands are, so it will not calculate pressure increases once your bullets are in the lands.
