Sheer dumb lie about the obligatory centralized register - the EU explicitely allows decentralized registers (e.g. on community level) as well.
Which one is preferred?
Decentralized ones...exist for 40 years now, less potential for misuse. No registers at all is not a realistic perspective, unfortunately.
Well, I'm positive that the Euro as a currency will be history by 2020 and the European Union itself by 2050.
