Look down this list to the 300wsm thread. Read the last page. I've used a 30/06 as a loaner rifle for hundreds of animals including eland and giraffe for dozens of my hunters.
It's a nearly perfect plains game choice. Use the 165 grain TSX bullets. Do not use federal fusion bullets.
