Jim that is a really neat rifle.....a solid frame K. I could see them adding a little hydrogen peroxide to the threads, screwing the barrel in for the final time and done.
Seeing as though hydrogen peroxide was already around for a hundred + years by the time that rifle was born, that's an interesting thought. Seeing as though a gun person of one persuasion or another and not a surgeon would have done the work, I would think he peened the threads a tad before winding the barrel. It's done and we'll never know,,,,,,,,,,,,,for sure. Does it REALLY matter on such a great rifle just as it sits??? Poor little thing is getting passed around like a babe in Barcelona!!!!!!!!!
