I am just now retiring from a career as a cabinetmaker and finish carpenter. While I have had one extremely minor nick from a tablesaw, I still have all ten, and no missing parts or even scars. That said, I am glad I am retiring as one of the largest General Contractors in the state requires all workers to wear gloves. Wearing gloves while working on a tablesaw is just plain stupid, and it appears that the OP is now in agreement. Gloves do not protect fingers from a spinning blade, quite the contrary.
The only thing they will protect is the hands from splinters.
