I used two 180 grain XP3s out of a 300 Win Mag on an Elk last year. They performed great. Both shots passed all the way through (both double lung shots). The first shot exited through the far shoulder without any problems. The lungs were mush.
Really the only downside to using XP3s is finding them in my area. I don't think I saw a box for sale locally this year.
Oh, I did have one box of 150 grain XP3s fail to fire with good primer hits at the range one day. They were both from the same box. I haven't had the issue with any other boxes of XP3s.
