. I've seen a lot of stocks with compass' in them and some that have been pulled out and repaired/plugged. Projects like those are fun, especially when you know you aren't hurting (depreciating) the value of your rifle. You might as well glass bed that old rifle when you do the other work as well. It will be a lot more pleasurable to shoot with a good recoil pad installed too..
Agreed. Considering that it was a $400 pawn shop find, including the K4 and mounts, I couldn't have bought a new cheapie econo rifle for the same money. Not sure whether I'll leave the compass in, or take it out. I kinda like the dumb thing.
Leave it in if you like it. My buddy had one in his winchester model 71 and he told me he was going to modernize it a little and "slap a gps into the side of it"...
