I have a custom Mauser 98 .270 with a Douglas premium barrel. The barrel is a Douglas #2 sporter and is 24" long. I have had the gun for 20 years and it shoots great. I would like to reduce the weight a bit. I looked on Douglas's website and a featherweight contour is 12 ounces lighter than a #2 contour.
My question is would I be able to have the barrel on my .270 turned down to a featherweight contour and finished at 22"?
I know it can be cut to 22" easy enough, but I would love to have it turned down to a featherweight contour.
