There seems to be some confusion here. Global Rescue/MedJet is evacuation insurance, not medical insurance.

It is likely not to be an elephant charge that gets you hurt. Automobile accidents are the #1 cause of tourist injuries. Think about flying down a dirt road on the back of a Land Cruiser in Africa! OHSHA is not looking out for you in the bush.

A friend of mine was on business in Scotland and took a tumble down a flight of stairs. Two shattered knees. His company had evacuation insurance and he flew home in an air ambulance for surgery.

I use Global Rescue. I do not know if it is still an issue, but a number of years ago MedJet would only pick you up from the nearest airport. GR will extract you from the bush.
