I gotta be missing something, but my ballistic calculator indicates only 1.5" difference in drop at 500yds between the ABLR and regular AB? I don't shoot true long range so perhaps the intended use for the bullet is past 500yds.
The Long Range AB has a much lower minimum impact velocity than the regular AB (1300 vs. 1800 fps), so other applications for the LR AB are in lower capacity (lower velocity) cartridges or low-recoil reduced loads.
