MOM PASSES ALONG FAMILY HUNTING TRADITION

Max Elswick of Yukon harvested a big tom on the opening day of
turkey season. Spring turkey season continues in Oklahoma through
May 6.

YUKON, OK - Usually, it�s fathers who pass on the hunting tradition to their
sons. But in this case, it�s mom whose favorite clothing is camo.

�Just ask my husband,� said Robbie Elswick of Yukon. �He thinks I am obsessed
about hunting and he�s right. I eat, sleep, and dream about hunting. My
husband, not so much, but he understands and accepts my passion for it,
though.�

Elswick and her 8-year-old son Max spent the opening morning of spring
turkey season in Roger Mills County and were rewarded.

�Max has been accompanying me on most of my hunting adventures since he
was 3,� Elswick said in an email. �Last year, my husband and I decided he was
old enough to BE the hunter and he harvested his own turkey with a crossbow.

�Just a few weeks ago we borrowed an antique youth model Toppers single shot
20 gauge shotgun and the rest is history. Max harvested a very nice tom
turkey on opening morning of spring turkey season.�

The turkey had a nine-inch beard and weighed almost 19 pounds.

�He is already asking mom to take him hunting again,� Elswick said. �I always
hoped my love for hunting would live on and now I am convinced.�
