Anyone here know if it's fairly straight forward and possible to re drill an AR barrel from a pistol gas port to a carbine gas port on a 16" barrel?

Obviously the pistol port would have to be blocked somehow.

I presume gas ports are drilled after rifling anyways, so it shouldn't mess up the rifling if done by a competent 'smith, right?
