From some research that I did on 35 caliber bullets a few years ago for light Blue Dot loads for my 358 Win, I can tell you that the 180 SSP opens up very easily. It nearly turns inside out at rifle velocities. The recovered bullets in the picture I saw looked like they were flying ashtrays.

I imagine it would drop a whitetail in it's tracks but I wouldn't expect a great deal of penetration on angling shots.
