In the August, 2014 Rotarian Magazine, author S. A. Swanson has a very enlightening piece by this title on internet comments and behavior.

One quote, "When people use a different name online, they sometimes view their comments as separate from their 'real' selves. That falls under a broad category of behavior that psychologists call dissociation."

The article goes on with data and scientific studies that would pretty well explain some of the behavior we see here on the Fire.
