It's kinda like a 30-30 was back the days of youth. Growing up in the Northwest, the 30-30 was a somewhat of an accepted status symbol for us teenagers. If you were in the "becoming-a-hunter" club, you had your "own" 30-30 for deer season.

Fast forward 35 years, I see the same thing here in Virginia with the 20-somethings and the .300 Blackout, you are not in the "cool kids" club unless you have one.

Given the ballistic similiarity between the two rounds, it seems pretty ironic...
