I have used 7 mm Berger VLDs in various cartridges of that caliber since '05-'06. Jack rabbits to elk all fell with one bullet in the vitals with ranges from 56 to 1005 yards. I would like to say a tremendous bull elk dropped at 1005 but in fact it was a large jack rabbit hit with a 7 mm x .404. The same rifle does manage one shot kills with VLDs on bull elk at 625 or so. I use 168 grain bullets in the magnums and 140's in everything else. I like the 180 VLD's but my magazine is not long enough to allow them to be properly seated out far enough. Yeah I know that can be fixed with a little work but the 168's are "good enough".
