I decided to go with a peep on a late production (tang safety, I'm guessing made in the '70s) 99A in .250 Savage. I put a Williams Foolproof on it and it will need a taller front sight as I just verified at the range.

The stock sight already seems pretty tall. The load is kind of standard for the caliber; 34 grains of IMR4320 and a Sierra 100 grain Spitzer. I'm guessing the barrel is about 20" long. At 25 yards it hit 6-7 inches high with the sight bottomed out.

Any advice? I may just call Williams in the morning and see what front sight they recommend.
