Technically, I guess every piece of virgin brass fired for the first time is fire formed to the chamber.

I never tried to make a .222 mag round out of a .204 case. Just look at the specs. I think the .22-204 shoulder is a bit forward of the .222 mag shoulder, thus the set back.

aalf has posted photos of the differences, has done a lot of work with the .22-204. Do a search and you'll find those photos.
