After further consideration I decided to upgrade my deflector shield design. I really wanted to do this without having to buy anything but coyotewacker's post in my first thread got me thinking that two tubs may not be enough. The problem is the plastic is so flexible that they could bend and damage the display.

So ... I went to local plastic fab shop and the owner sold me a piece of scrap 1/8" Lexan for a $1.00. grin

There's no way a sabot is going through that. The only fabrication needed is cutting it with jigsaw.

Two tubs = shock absorber
1/8" Lexan = sabot proof !

I have to admit that the tubs might be superfluous. They add a bit of shock absorbtion but I really don't know if that's a necessity. You could use clear shipping tape to attach the Lexan over the front of the display and call it good. I like the slip on/slip off design though.
