Gene is an outstanding D coordinator, and there is no crime with that being a man's pinnacle of achievement. Head coaching ain't for everyone. Take Mickey Andrews at FSU. He told them and Bobby Bowden he was content to run the Defense. Keep the checks coming and he wasn't leaving. Take Buddy Ryan. A defensive master, but not a great Head Coach. It happens.
