Serial number would tell us a lot.

Since you are saying it is a "V", is it a 24" BBL? Seems there is always a lot of confusion when measuring the barrel. Measure fom end of barrel, to past the action around a half inch.

Ruger pretty much made 20", 22", 24" and 26" barrels on number 1's.
(I have dealt with a guy that has insisted he has a 23" Tropical, thinks it is a special order 23" barrel.)

Fill us in on the serial number, and from that we can date rifle etc.

Beautiful wood on your rifle. Make sure you never get rid of it.
