Would a Weatherby Mark V barrel READILY fit another type of commonly available action?

The Mark V has the same thread as a Rem 700 at 1-1/16" x 16 tpi.

Tenon length of the Wby is shorter but then it doesn't have a recoil lug between the shoulder and the receiver. The counter bore in the chamber end is about .020" bigger than the Rem counterbore.

You could push the Wby shoulder ahead to accomodate the recoil lug and adjust headspace and screw it into a 700, but you will have an over size counter bore unless you face it off, cut the Rem counterbore, extend the thread and deepen the chamber.

and yes, I have done it.

You wouldn't want to pay a 'smith to do this though.
