I had similar results, on a similarly placed shot, with the old 225 X bullet in my Whelen. I'd use the 225 TSX exclusively if I didn't have so many standard 250's to shoot up first. But the Hornady and Speer 250 gr lead core bullets do the same job in my opinion, used on about 15 or so elk.
