Never buy a rifle that you don't consider what it will take to sell it to someone else. If you never trade or sell one of your guns, you can always buy what you want. If you do sell and trade, you have to consider the excuse for why a gun has been modified.
A cut pre-64 is still a very serviceable rifle, but I would never buy one...
And I thank guys like you, because some of us like hunters/shooters. My motto is buy low sell high. Unless selling to friends....
I also agree with Winchesterpoor about a good rifle selling itself. Most "good" pre 64's sell almost effortlessly with little to no leg work...
