By all means, use a straight razor, with mug & brush. DOVO or the like is fine. The biggest part of the learning curve is the
degree of honing, stropping, sharpening that works best FOR YOU.
I've used one every day, nearly, for 12 years. It's more than
worth it. I'll never go back to a safety razor, even though I own some high priced ones. Not even with Feather blades. NOTHING is as good as a straight shave, once you figure it out. It's like tuning a rifle and working up the best load. Approach it like that, and you won't be sorry.
