A thin hollow gring is the best slicer and easy to sharpen. I have reground a couple of convex and I know other makers have too. If your happy with it thats all that matters. You should try a custom knife at least once. The right grind on proper steel with aperfect heat treat will ama e you and you won't have to worry as much about sharpeng in the bush.
