Yep. I noticed the ring around the case after about the first three .30-06 cases I chamfered about 30 years ago.

So, I put a ring of plastic electricians tape on the inside of the tool. That solved the problem, and was easier than trying to be a non-sloppy operator.

If the tape picks up some tiny metal particles, the tool can return to marking cases. The tape may need replacing when that happens.

The image below shows the took, and the arrow shows the bottom open end, the inside of which needs the tape.
