In keeping with internet posting standards, since I have not tagged a lion I will reply. That makes me qualified to expound on techniques, calibers and required attire. grin Surely someone somewhere has actually tagged one, which diminishes his qualifications but allows him to extrapolate the number (1) into universal applications of the bullet and caliber used, etc. Killing any more than one is ground for the internet populace to dismiss and ignore anything the hunter says. whistle

My son has tagged three called lions, two of which I called, and I have called another confirmed 16 and managed to not shoot any of them. That may make me an expert on not tagging lions.

If you are serious about wanting to tag a cougar within a time frame, hounds are vastly more efficient, though you may luck into a calling a lion on your first stand, which my son and I did.

Will see if I can figure out how to link to a story or two. There are a number of successful cougar stories posted in this forum over the years, with hounds and by calling, and at least one by sitting up over a kill.

Are you looking for an outfitter? DYI? Calling?

Rainshadow has excellent cougar calling sounds and a great collection of recent cougar hunting stories on his website.
