for me often times its best to see how the scope fits and comes up as I bring the rifle up. I don't think its a good idea to mount a scope extra low for looks. you may find that you get a better view through the scope in field positions if the scope is a touch higher.
It's definitely not just about aesthetics. I have a very low cheek weld.........in fact, I could stand to mount this even lower if it was possible, or raise the comb. Neither is gonna happen though. This is about as good and practical as I'm gonna get without going the custom route.
