Saw a lot of deer this year. Many more than in years past. Saw a few decent bucks in Hellgate. A small 4x and a big 3x4 that I turned down. My nephew got a nice fork during the youth hunt in the top of Cave Gulch. My brother shot a huge 3x4 up around York. He was so stinky and rutty that I opted to get a meat deer and shot a fork up in the top of Avalanche while we were looking for elk. We used to hunt Sieben every year too, but the pressure had gotten absurd, and the wolf population was really high over there, according to a FWP biologist I spoke with last year. Going to do some scouting in the Elkhorns in the Spring, just to try something new. I do whatever I can to avoid other hunters, and the clusterfuxx that ensue when there is a herd of elk getting pushed around.

I belong on eroding granite, among the pines.
