Yeah, I've had that problem with rimfire scopes. The 77/22 has a very very long action for a rimfire. I could not make the 2-7X and 3-9X Leupold compact RF specials work on my 77/17 so I got rid of them and replaced them with a 4-12X Vari X II FD/AO. I'm pretty happy with that setup. Lot of scope for a rimfire ... but it's a lot of rimfire.
