Oddly, the most fish came on a bare jig with a chunk of cutbait. I caught a couple fish that way, then decided I'd prove the regulars wrong by trying a variety of other baits and lures. Only one fish over the next two days made me look kinda silly. By the time I conceded my ignorance, there was no way for me to catch up to the guys using the proven combo.

The rules there are a bit odd. You can fish the whole lake with a Utah license, but if you are an Arizonan, you have to buy a special Utah tag to go with your AZ license. In the other two large lakes Utah shares with other states, you have to have a reciprocal tag both ways to fish the other state's waters. But in any of them, you only need your own state license to fish your own side of the lakes. Is that clear?
