I've bird hunted using the Filson Strap Vest for a number of years now. The bird pouch is plenty big for quail, but you couldn't put many pheasant in it. The shell pockets will each hold a box of shells, but I don't get the chance to fire that many. For our typically mild winters a long sleeve shirt and a wool vest under the strap vest on cool days is normally just right - couple that with some old jeans and Filson Single-Tin chaps and you can walk through the briers well.
