Factory checkering on EG's started in about 1940. Check the serial numbers on the wood, end of forearm that fits against receiver, end of butt stock underneath/ on butt plate. Matching numbers will confirm the wood is correct to the receiver. If they match and the serial number is earlier, then might have been a special order.
