Was going through my grandpa's tackle box and came across this ice fishing rod that he built so I thought I would post some pictures. It worked pretty slick and folded up to fit in the bottom of his box.

Ready to use (minus line that wrapped around the top piece). Line went through the small eye screw down the rod and through a small hole in the tip of the rod section.

Disassembled to show the different pieces. Top piece was for the line. Loosen the wingnut to collapse/unfold. Tighten the nut to provide tension on the "spool".

Tongue & groove to keep the "rod" from moving.

It's not high tech like the new ice fishing equipment, but it works and there was no maintenance. This one is made out of solid oak.
