It definitely helps the patterns. I've always been amazed at how you can see the where they stamped the barrel on the inside bore as well as where they welded the rib and how polishing can remove those impressions to make a night polished bright bore.

I haven't looked in a while, but Benelli didn't make less than a 24 or maybe 26" barrel on their 20's. I know for a fact they didn't make a pistol grip stock. I started with my M1 20ga and it threw fantastic patterns due to their chrome lined barrels. I wanted a dedicated 20ga to put a red dot on with a pistol grip stock. Those two things drove me to the Remington Youth Model.
