I appreciate everyone's input. I started off thinking "a stick and a string". And the Black Rhinos mentioned above appear to be quite serviceable for a very reasonable price.

Yes, her school district does have an NASP program. Looks like it starts in the 4th grade. I thought the pictures I had seen were recurve bows. However, after 4agers' comment, I went back and started perusing the school website. Sure enough, they were shooting compounds. My LGS has an archery "pro" who can get in a "Mini Genesis" for a reasonable price.

And, as I am discussing with my daughter (the one who never wanted to hunt), her comment was "Well, if you teach her, you have to teach me too..."

Decisions, decisions... Again, I appreciate the input...
