Tried last year, but never could seem to get Layne set up in the right place at the right time for a shot. Tonight my wife (who is the turkey guide in our family) took the kids out for a hunt and this time Layne got his chance. Bird was around 17# with a 4" beard. Not huge, but not a jake, either. Will be good eating! Definitely a proud little guy, Grace was happy to be there to see it happen, and Mom was happy to have helped make it happen!
