I hit her high in the lungs and it was a long track job. I used a 300gr Barnes X bullet loaded to 2400 FPS. With all due respect to barnes this was 15 years ago but it sticks with me.
I have used the Accubond in my 257 Roberts with great success and will be trying them in my 300 H&H and 300 Savage. My 300 H&H is fond of the 165 gr NBT, the deer not so much.
I fully understand about the original X bullet. They tended to perform very well or very poorly and not a lot in between. My experience with the TSX/TTSX has been very satisfactory though.
Strangely, my .257 (An MRC Action with a Lilja barrel)doesn't care for the TSX either and the 110 AB has been my go to bullet for several years. 7x57Steve used the 180 AB in his .300 H&H Ruger #1 on a 6x6 bull last year and it performed perfectly.
