Anyone ever had a custom gun built, and sent a factory ammo dummy round to the smith? Thinking of doing this with a 308 someday.

There is some darn good stuff on the shelf for paper punching and game taking. Why not send over a Fed Gold Match or Hornady Match 308 round, buy 500, and shoot away. Or even let the builder choose. Once you have 500 brass, reload to factory ammo specs or try a new bullet if you're bored.

How many rounds would you expect to see from a 308 before starting to chase the throat?
